Setup Mastery

Three hours at the bench on your own guitar, working through relief, nut height, saddle height, fret condition, and intonation so the instrument plays cleanly under your hands.

This is setup work at the bench, not a lecture.

We use your own instrument and work through the same setup decisions I make in my own work: neck relief, action at the nut, action at the saddle, fret assessment, and intonation.

The useful part is learning which adjustment changes which symptom, and when the problem is no longer a setup problem.

At the bench

What we cover

  • Truss rod adjustment for deliberate neck relief.
  • Nut and saddle height as part of one playable whole.
  • Fret assessment, polishing, and the warning signs that point to deeper work.
  • Intonation and final feel checks.

Outcome

What you leave with

  • A guitar dialed in to a clear setup target.
  • A written setup sheet with your personalized numbers.
  • A practical tool list for repeating the work.
  • A better sense of when a problem is setup and when it is something else.
